Multimedia Localization Experts

JBI was founded in 1977 by Jacques Boulanger, an advertising executive who focused the company on consulting and translations for marketing content and corporate communication. Given the large pool of international voice talents in Los Angeles, as well as the availability of top-quality studio engineers and editors, JBI began offering audio translation and voice-over services for marketing videos.

In 1996, Elane Barth joined JBI as Director of Production. Under her leadership, the company became JBI Localization and opened its own broadcast-quality recording studio, equipped with ProTools and state-of-the-art hardware. JBI quickly became a leading provider of foreign-language voice-over, video dubbing and subtitling for video game developers, film studios, and Fortune 500 companies.

In 2001, JBI built a second voice-over studio and expanded its post-production services to meet client demand. It added audio description, on-screen titles and graphics replacement and full-service multimedia localization to its service roster.

In 2005, JBI Localization opened its subsidiary JBI Studios which focused on voice-over, dubbing, and subtitling for entertainment content. The company also moved to its current facilities, complete with two recording studios with Source-Connect, a post-editing suite, and a sound stage, giving JBI the flexibility to accommodate any localization project. The studio's scalability combined with JBI's expertise in foreign languages and new media technology allow it to serve small and large clients with complex multimedia localization requirements - in any language.
