About Putonghua Mandarin Chinese
Mandarin voice over guide by JBI Studios: Mandarin is the official spoken language of the People's Republic of China (PRC) but it’s not actually an official language, strictly speaking. Instead, it’s a grouping of Chinese dialects spoken across northern and southwestern China. While the various dialects that make up the Mandarin group are taken as one language, native speakers refer to the version of Mandarin they speak by the province they are from—including Northeastern dialect or Sichuan dialect. Mandarin has the largest amount of native speakers than any other language. Simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese is also referred to Mandarin informally.
Mandarin is one of six official languages of the United Nations. Mandarin voice over is also targeted at Singapore markets as one of its four official languages.
Mandarin is different from English in many respects. Unlike English, Mandarin words are formed according to their meaning. The word “computer” is composed of two words, one meaning “electric,” the other meaning “brain.” Mandarin is also different from English because it does not use tenses. Instead of tenses, Mandarin uses markers of time, like saying the word “yesterday” or “formerly,” or indicating whether the subject of the sentence has done something that was anticipated. However, like English, Mandarin often begins sentence with a subject and follows with a predicate.
Chinese voice talents deliver translation, dubbing, subtitling and other voice over services in many dialects. Different Mandarin voice over dialects include: Beijing Mandarin, Northeastern Mandarin, Ji Lu Mandarin, Jiao Liao Mandarin, Zhongyuan Mandarin, Lan Yin Mandarin, Southwestern Mandarin, Jianghuai Mandarin, and Jin Mandarin.
