The increasing U.S. population diversity coupled with traveling and globalization of industries means the number of people seeking instruction on foreign language or English as a second language (ESL) is growing. The Language instruction is valued at $1 billion with 13% annual growth rate according to AnythingResearch.com, which ranks the industry as the fifth fastest-growing area to start a business in 2011.
Providers of language learning solutions are perhaps those with the highest quality standards for foreign language audio recordings. That is why they entrust JBI Studios with their product: we share those exact standards, of both linguistic quality, and technical quality.
Language Learning Online: Linguistic Quality
From Spanish to Kazakh, our voice talent are not only 100% native speakers, they also speak what is considered the standard dialect in their country. This is not just about choosing the right dialect such as French for Canada or French for France: it’s about getting the right accent inside that country, such as ensuring that a Mongolian talent speaks the Ulan Bator dialect.
Strategies: Sound Quality
Whether recorded in one of our two Los Angeles studios, or in one of our 30+ in country partner studios, we commit to maintaining complete consistency in sound, level, and post production standards. Not only on our first delivery, but also on all subsequent deliveries for recurring projects. We keep track of technical settings, such as mic placement and compression settings, in order to produce the same sound, months, or even years later.
Software App Programs: Audio File Naming Standards
As a language learning course can typically contain thousands of audio files, producing audio files with 100% accurate file names is key to timely product launches. At JBI Studios, we have developed proprietary software to automate script formatting and file renaming. This prevents typos in file names, missing files, and mislabeled files.
Language Dialog Consistency Standards
Dialogs are part of most language learning courses. In addition to our sound consistency standards, that allow us to produce natural sounding dialogs from recordings executed at different times, we have also developed programs to automatically combine individual lines into dialogs, with the ability to adjust the silence between the dialog lines, typically, a longer pause for beginner level course, and natural pauses (around 0.5 seconds) for an advanced level course.
