Foreign Language Dubbing Services Provided By Experienced Professionals
The word dubbing can mean many different things. At JBI Studios, we understand itas lip-sync, but below are descriptions of all the different types of recording to video. From our Los Angeles Dubbing Studios and through a worldwide network of in-country partner studios, we offer dubbing in over 80 languages.
The original voice is heard for a few seconds and then fades into the background as the foreign language fades in. JBI Studios carefully times the foreign language audio to make sure the final product comes out seamless and the delivery is a perfect mix of languages, with the correct audio levels and balance.
UN-style voice-over is typically done to record a foreign language audio track over an on-screen narrator, as in a training video with a narrator or a marketing video showing the CEO of a company. UN-style voice-over is more cost effective than lip-sync, and more true to the original product since the voice of the on-screen speaker is still heard at times throughout the video.
Lip-syncing
This is what you see on TV series or movies: the foreign language version replaces the original voice, and lip movement matches the original closely to make it look like the on-screen actors are actually speaking the language being dubbed into. With our experienced foreign voice-over talent, language director and lip-sync sound engineers, we guarantee excellent lip-sync every time. Having dubbed over 100 full-length feature films, our process is streamlined and quality is consistent. As a matter of fact, it takes us no more than two weeks to dub a full length feature film, including full mix. We can also fill your M&E if requested.
Lip-sync is mostly done for entertainment type content, but recently more and more for training videos involve acting and dialogs. For example, workplace harassment training with a scene showing co-workers interact - such a scene needs to be realistic in each language in order to be effective for the viewer.
Off Screen Voice-Over
Also called dialogue replacement. Scenes where no actors are seen on-screen, or when the voice of the on-screen actor is not heard. For example, with product demonstration videos and marketing videos with off-screen voice-over, it is then possible to erase the original voice completely and replace it with the foreign language voice-over. Nonetheless, it is still critical to use the video when recording the foreign language voice-over, as there might be visual cues to match. And, if the foreign language runs shorter or longer than the original, you must look at the visuals to know when it is acceptable or not to be slightly off.
Why JBI Studios For Your Video Voice-Over?
Not only are our talent top notch, so are our sound engineers. Having mixed hundreds of UN style voice-over and dubbings, they know exactly how the recording must be conducted: what must be adjusted with the talent and native director is adjusted during the recording. What can be adjusted during post production is left aside. As a result, our bullet-proof process eliminates the need for a native speaker to be present during post production. This ensures top quality while reducing costs and delays.
